DB Regio orders 18 new Alstom Coradia Max trains James Billington, 21 January 202421 January 2024 Deutsche Bahn are set to recieve 18 new double-decker Coradia Max high-capacity trains from Alstom in 2027. These new 3-car and 5-car EMUs will be run under the DB Regio brand and will operate on the highly popular Baltic Sea – Alster (OSTA) sub-network. The 18 trains will be seperated in 2 groups, 9 being 3-car and the other 9 having 5 cars and all 18 will be made at Alstom’s Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, Germany. The trains will have capacities of 265 seats and 462 seats respectivley. Alstom have said that the new trains will be under their “Coradia Max” family, the new name for their Coradia Stream HC (High Capacity) Muslum yakisan, President of Alstom Region DACH, said: “The Coradia max scores highly in terms of capacity and comfort, providing the best arguments for more green mobility by rail. Passengers in northern Germany can look forward to reliable, spacious and barrier-free trains.” These new trains will initially run on the RE1 line between Hamburg and Rostock but once the electrification of the line from Bad Kleinen to Lubeck and the construction of a connecting curve, some of the trains will run as far as Lubeck.
