Development to begin on proposals for 3 new stations in the West Midlands James Billington, 13 February 2024 The West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE) have shortlisted proposals for three new stations in the West Midlands. These are: Castle Bromwich, on the line from Birmingham to the East Midlands, Coventry East, situated on the Coventry to Rugby line and a third station between Tettenhall, Pendeford and Claregate. WMRE has allocated/earmarked £1m to develop proposals of the new stations. All of the new stations would be on existing rail lines. Castle Bromwich would restore a demolished station closed in 1968 and would connect commuters and locals to central Birmingham and Nottingham/Leicester. Coventry East’s proposal is for a brand new station on the Coventry to Rugby line and serve the Binley/Willenhall area and the final third station has not yet been named. This station will sit north of Wolverhampton and inbetween Tettenhall, Pendeford and Claregate on the line to Shrewsbury. Buisness News West Midlands West Midlands Railway
